As early as 1764, East Greenwich residents banded together to fight against autocracy – the Kentish Guards, led by Colonel Varnum, asserted the notion that out-of-touch tyrants had no moral right to control their daily lives. We are now called repeat their patriotism, in a peaceful display of democracy. We shout “No Kings!” by voting early in Rhode Island.
October 17th, it’s a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing the West Bay together to make a plan to vote early and ensuring every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voice heard.
No one person gets to decide our leaders before voters do. On October 17th, join us in East Greenwich as we gather peacefully and joyfully to get out the early vote and say it loud: no thrones, no crowns, no kings.
