About this engagement

No Kings: Vote Early! Annandale, VA, I-495 Bridge Brigade

WE decide who represents us. WE decide what comes next.

For more than a year, millions of people have come together to reject the idea that power belongs to kings, billionaires, or politicians who believe they are above the people and the law.
Now we are taking the next step, turning people power into voter power. Unlike previous No Kings actions, No Kings: Vote Early is not purely a protest. On October 17th, it is a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing our community together to make a plan to vote early, to make sure every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote, and to give every voter the chance to make their voice heard.

So we’re taking it to the bridge!! We’ll take over the turnpike overpass close to the FSU vs UM game at the Hard Rock Stadium so thousands of college football fans will see one message: EARLY VOTING STARTS MONDAY, OCTOBER 19th.

We will have banners, flags, and extra signs on site. Handmade signs are welcome — keep them big, readable at 55 mph, and on message.

No Kings: Vote Early events are nonpartisan and are designed to increase participation from all eligible voters.

These are examples of what is NOT allowed:  Candidate speakers or elected officials who are also candidates at events, “vote them out” messaging, “vote Blue” messaging, or encouraging voting based on issues that divide the parties (“vote for repro rights”) , any candidate campaign activity (distributing campaign literature, campaign fundraising, or coordinating with candidate campaign staff/agents), any political party or political committee attending or helping coordinate the event, or a speaker expressing bias for or against any candidate for office.

WHAT TO BRING – Water, sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable shoes – A flag or a sign if you have one – A friend, a neighbor, your kid, your sister-in-law who keeps saying she’ll get around to voting

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO Broward early voting runs Monday, October 19th through Sunday, November 1st, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM every day, and any Broward voter can vote at any of the 30 sites. Check your registration and your vote-by-mail status at browardvotes.gov before you come.

A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

On October 17th, join us on the Miramar Pkwy bridge as we get out the early vote and say it loud: no thrones, no crowns, no kings.
