This event is sponsored by the Eastern NC Coalition- Craven, Carteret and Pamlico Counties.
We will be holding community Marching Rallies on Oct. 17 from 11:00-1:00. We will be going into the downtown communities of New Bern to disseminate voting information.
WE WILL NOT ALL BE MEETING AT THE PARK AT 11:00. These Marching Rallies will begin at 4 different locations. Each location will have a short speaker, a March leader and safety officers. Each March will last approximately 1 hour and then return to the starting location.
The 4 meeting locations are:
1. New Bern City Hall, 300 Pollock St. New Bern
2. Stanley White Recreation Center, 601 3rd Ave, New Bern
3. Union Point Park, 210 E Front St, New Bern
4. North Carolina History Center, 529 S Front St, New Bern
To assure equal participation, we are suggesting the following locations for you:
1. Last name starting with A-D
2. Last name starting with E-K
3. Last name starting with L-R
4. Last name starting with S-Z
Of course, this is just a suggestion to ensure that we are walking all over town equally, but you can go to the location of your choice.
If you prefer to sit instead of march, please bring your chair and your sign.
All signs should be visible from the road and include something about Early Voting. You can find signs to print off by themselves (enlarge) or stick on an older sign online.
Reminders:
We may walk on the sidewalks, but we may not block them.
There will be a medical tent at Union Point Park.
Bring water!
After the rally, there will be other opportunities available at Union Point Park beginning at 1:00:
Saturday in the Park: Community Gathering
Early Voting Door Knocking
**WE DECIDE WHO REPRESENTS US. WE DECIDE WHAT COMES NEXT.**
For more than a year, millions of people have come together to reject the idea that power belongs to kings, billionaires, or politicians who believe they are above the people and the law.
Now, we are taking the next step, turning people power into voter power. Unlike previous No Kings actions, No Kings: Vote Early, is not purely a protest. Instead, on October 17th, it’s a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing **our community** together to make a plan to vote early and ensuring every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voice heard.
Because no one person gets to decide our leaders before voters do. On October 17th, join us in local events across the country as we get out the early vote and say it loud: no thrones, no crowns, no kings.
*No Kings: Vote Early events are nonpartisan and are designed to increase participation from all eligible voters.*
By attending this event, you consent to your photo and/or video being used in promotional material, social media posts, media, and other outreach by No Kings coalition partners.
*A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.*
