Woodburn has the highest per capita ICE detention rate in Oregon. We are Oregon’s Ground Zero. Many days, before 8 AM, another Woodburn parent has been detained and taken away. We ask you to come to Woodburn on No Kings Vote Early Day, and stand with us to show our city’s grieving families and everyone else, that our Oregon neighbors care about our little city’s disappeared loved ones.
Our city has become a human hunting ground where ICE stalks, abducts and hides many local mothers and fathers, including a beloved pastor who is a military dad. Children here are scared to go to school, and terrified of being orphaned. Our neighbors are abducted at health clinics, at the grocery store, and in their cars. Taken family members are quickly driven to Tacoma, then flown to secret locations in red states and other countries where they can’t communicate with attorneys or their loved ones. Many neighbors are afraid to leave their homes to buy food, get health care or go to work.
On this fourth No Kings Day, as we stand up for the right to vote and to live in a democracy, please come stand with the people of Woodburn. On October 17, it may be the most important place you could stand in the state of Oregon.
