The fine print
Terms of Use
The rules for using this site, for everyone who visits, and for the people who publish here. This page is not satire.
Effective date: October 6, 2026
Operated by: Royal Decree (“we,” “us,” the “Organization”)
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of this website (the “Site”). Part One applies to everyone who visits or interacts with the Site. Part Two applies additionally to anyone who holds an account on the Site or has been granted content-access permissions.
By accessing the Site, submitting a form, posting a comment, or publishing content here, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
Part One: Terms for all users
1. Who may use the Site
You must be at least 14 years old to browse the Site, at least 16 years old to submit any form (signup, event RSVP, contact, or a content submission) or post a comment, and at least 18 years old to hold an account (see Part Two). If you are under 18, you may attend events publicized on the Site only as permitted by law and with the consent of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16; if you believe we have, contact hismajesty@nokings.lol and we will delete it.
2. What the Site is
The Site publishes political satire and organizing content: royal decrees, court portraits, royal reviews, adopt-a-billionaire profiles, meme templates, bingo cards, policy demands, events, blog posts, and a directory of local chapters. The satire is satire. Decrees, portraits, reviews, and profiles are parody and commentary written in the voice of a fictional royal court; they are not statements of fact, and no one named in them said or did the things the fictional court attributes to them. The policy demands, event listings, and voting information are meant seriously.
3. Your content
The Site accepts a limited set of contributions from the public (“Your Content”):
- Comments on blog posts;
- Form submissions: joining an organizing list, RSVPing to an event, or sending a contact message;
- Content submissions: a decree, one-star review, or story (with an optional image) sent through the Submit page, which we may publish after review, credited to the name or alias you supplied.
License. You retain ownership of Your Content. By submitting it, you grant the Organization a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, edit for length or format, display, excerpt, and distribute Your Content on the Site and on the Organization’s social media channels, for the purpose of operating and promoting the Site. This license ends when Your Content is deleted from the Site, except for copies retained in routine backups, copies already shared on social media, or as required by law. We will not sell Your Content or your contact information.
Your responsibilities. You represent that Your Content is yours to submit, that anything you present as fact is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that it does not violate the acceptable-use rules below or any third party’s rights. We are under no obligation to publish anything you send.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use the Site to:
- Post or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, or that incites or calls for violence against any person. The joke is on the powerful; it is never a threat;
- Publish another person’s private information (home address, personal phone number, private email, financial or medical information) without their consent (“doxxing”);
- Impersonate any person, chapter, or organization in a way that could be mistaken for the real thing, or misrepresent your affiliation. Obvious parody of public figures is not impersonation;
- Post spam, commercial solicitation, or content generated in bulk;
- Infringe any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property right;
- Attempt to probe, disrupt, or overload the Site, circumvent rate limits or the private-links password gate, scrape form endpoints, or access submission records, accounts, or admin screens you have not been granted;
- Plan or coordinate unlawful activity. The Site supports lawful assembly, speech, voting, and advocacy.
5. Content moderation
- Moderation team. The Organization maintains a content moderation team that reviews content on the Site, including comments, visitor submissions, and content naming real people, and is empowered to edit, unpublish, or remove content and to suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
- Submissions are reviewed; comments may not be. Content sent through the Submit page is held privately and published only if we choose to. Comments may appear before the moderation team has reviewed them, and we are not responsible for a comment prior to moderation.
- Enforcement discretion. The moderation team may act on any content that violates these Terms, creates legal risk, or endangers any person, and may act without prior notice where the team judges the content to pose imminent harm (for example, doxxing or credible threats).
- Notice and appeal. Where practical, we will notify the responsible user when their content is removed and state the reason. You may appeal a moderation decision by writing to hismajesty@nokings.lol within 14 days; appeals are reviewed by a person not involved in the original decision.
- Reporting content. Anyone may report content that violates these Terms via the contact form (subject “Legal / safety”) or hismajesty@nokings.lol. Reports are reviewed by the moderation team; you will not necessarily receive an individual response.
6. Satire and content naming real people
Parts of the Site (court portraits, adopt-a-billionaire profiles, royal decrees, and royal reviews) name real public figures and organizations and describe, in satirical form, conduct the Organization opposes. For this content:
- It is satire and commentary on the public conduct of public figures. Titles, quotations, decrees, and reviews attributed to the court or its members are invented, and are not statements of fact except where a factual claim is expressly made;
- Where we do state a fact, it is published under the obligations in Part Two, Section 6, which require accuracy and documentation;
- Nothing on the Site is affiliated with, endorsed by, or authored by the people and organizations it satirizes;
- You may not use anything published on the Site to harass, threaten, defraud, or invade the privacy of any person;
- If you are named on the Site and believe an entry about you states a false fact or lists non-public personal information, contact hismajesty@nokings.lol. Such reports are prioritized by the moderation team.
7. Privacy and communications
Our Privacy Policy describes what we collect and how we use it. In short: forms collect only what you enter (an email address and/or Signal username, and optionally your ZIP code, a role preference, your name, a message, or a submission with the name or alias to credit); submissions are stored privately on the Site and are visible only to its authorized organizers; organizers may be notified of a new submission in a private Signal group; and we run no third-party analytics or advertising trackers. To have your submission data corrected or deleted, contact hismajesty@nokings.lol.
8. Third-party content and external services
The Site displays content from external feeds (for example, a Bluesky feed or posts from a public subreddit), embeds an OpenStreetMap map on event pages, and links to external sites for donations, event registration, petitions, and social media. We do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for third-party content or services, which are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. All donation payments are processed entirely by external providers; the Site never collects payment information. Verify you are on the intended external site before entering payment details.
9. Events, voting information, and in-person activity
The Site publishes times and locations for in-person events. Some are organized by local chapters or by other organizations; the listing names the host, and registration for those events may happen on the host’s own platform under its terms. You attend events at your own risk. The Organization does not control venues, hosts, other attendees, counter-protesters, weather, or law-enforcement conduct, and is not liable for injury, loss, or legal consequences arising from your attendance. Follow the law, the posted accessibility and safety notes, and the instructions of event organizers.
Voting information on the Site is general and may be out of date. Registration deadlines, early-voting dates, and polling locations are set by your state and local election officials; confirm them with the official source before you rely on them. Nothing on the Site is legal advice.
10. Intellectual property; copyright complaints
Meme templates are yours to take. We made them up and we are giving them away. You may copy, edit, remix, caption, and share any meme template published on the Site, for any purpose, without asking permission and without crediting us. The acceptable-use rules in Section 4 still apply to what you do with them on the Site, and using one does not make us the author of what you add to it.
All other Site content is owned by the Organization or its licensors. You may share links to it and quote reasonable excerpts with attribution for non-commercial advocacy purposes; all other rights in that content are reserved. The Site’s underlying software includes open-source components licensed under their own terms (including the GPL); those licenses govern the code, not the content.
If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, send a notice containing the elements required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to our designated agent: our designated copyright agent, reachable at the address published in our DMCA registration, hismajesty@nokings.lol. We respond to valid notices, including by removing content and, where appropriate, terminating repeat infringers’ access. Counter-notices may be sent to the same agent.
11. Disclaimers; limitation of liability; indemnity
- As-is. The Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- Satire and tools. Satirical content is parody and opinion, not fact. The royalty calculator and bingo cards are jokes with a point; they are not financial, tax, or professional advice. Adopt-a-billionaire “sponsorship tiers” are a joke too: they are not an offer, and nothing is for sale.
- Limitation. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Organization, its officers, and its volunteers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of the Site; and the aggregate liability of the Organization for all claims relating to the Site is limited to US $100 or the amount you paid us to use the Site (which is zero), whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
- Indemnity. You will defend and hold harmless the Organization from claims arising out of Your Content or your violation of these Terms.
12. Termination, changes, and general terms
- We may suspend or terminate your access (including comment privileges and form access) for violation of these Terms.
- We may modify these Terms; material changes will be announced on the Site with the new effective date. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance.
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the Organization's home jurisdiction, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
- If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These Terms plus the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and the Organization regarding the Site.
Part Two: Additional terms for account holders
This Part applies to anyone who holds an account on the Site or has been granted content-access permissions (including access to signup, RSVP, inquiry, or submission records). You must be at least 18 years old to hold any of these roles. These terms apply in addition to Part One.
1. Your work, your responsibility
You are responsible for the content you publish or approve on the Site, including visitor submissions you choose to publish and comments you approve. The Organization provides the platform and its moderation team; holding an account does not make every post pre-approved.
2. License
You grant the Organization the license described in Part One, Section 3, over everything you publish on the Site. You represent that you hold sufficient rights (including from photographers, illustrators, authors, and visitors whose submissions you publish) to publish it, and that images of real people are used lawfully.
3. Account and access hygiene
- Accounts are provisioned by administrators; there is no self-registration. Do not share accounts or passwords. You are responsible for activity under accounts you create or grants you assign.
- Grant content-access permissions on a need-to-know basis, and remove grants when a volunteer leaves or changes roles.
- The private-links password protects sensitive resources (for example, legal support and safety contacts). Share it only with vetted members, and rotate it when someone with access leaves.
4. Handling personal data (signups, RSVPs, inquiries, submissions)
A grant to signup, event-registration, inquiry, or submission records gives full access to every record of that type on the Site, including emails, Signal usernames, ZIP codes, names, and message bodies. If you hold or assign such a grant:
- Use submission data only for the purpose it was submitted for: organizing communication, event coordination, responding to inquiries, and crediting published submissions;
- Never sell, rent, trade, or publish submission data, and never export it to third-party services beyond the tools the Organization has approved for organizing communication;
- Keep notifications about new submissions in the private channels the Organization has set up for them, and never forward them elsewhere;
- Grant these records only to trusted organizers who need them, and revoke promptly;
- Honor deletion and correction requests, and forward ones you cannot fulfill to hismajesty@nokings.lol;
- Report any suspected exposure or misuse of submission data to hismajesty@nokings.lol within 72 hours.
5. Content standards
All content you publish must comply with Part One’s acceptable-use rules. In addition:
- Satire must read as satire. A reasonable reader should never mistake a decree, portrait, review, or profile for a news report or a real quotation. Punch up: the target is power, never the people it hurts.
- Accuracy. Factual claims, especially in policy demands and in the factual framing of court portraits and adopt-a-billionaire profiles, must be accurate to the best of your knowledge and supported by documentation you retain. Cite sources where the format provides for them.
- Attribution consent. Publish a private person’s name, likeness, story, or authorship credit only with their consent. Use the alias a contributor gave, or initials, where they request it or where identification could expose them to retaliation.
- Events. Publish accurate locations, times, accessibility notes, and the host for every event. Cancel or update event listings promptly when plans change. Do not publish an organizer’s personal contact details.
- Comments. If you enable comments on your posts, you are responsible for moderating them to these standards.
6. Court portraits and other content naming real people
Because court portraits, adopt-a-billionaire profiles, decrees, and reviews name real people, they carry the Site’s highest legal risk, and the following are conditions of publishing them:
- Public figures, public conduct: entries must concern a public figure’s or organization’s public, professional, or official conduct relevant to the Organization’s aims, never private individuals in their private capacity;
- Satire that reads as satire, facts that are documented: clearly frame characterizations as opinion or parody; where you state a fact, be able to support it with retained documentation; no fabrication presented as fact;
- No private information: never home addresses, personal phone numbers, personal email accounts, family members who are not themselves public figures, or any non-public information;
- No calls to contact or confront: the Site does not publish contact details for the people it satirizes or direct readers to contact them;
- Currency and correction: review your entries periodically; correct or remove entries that are outdated or where an underlying claim did not hold up; and comply immediately when the moderation team amends or removes an entry.
The moderation team may edit or remove any entry without prior notice.
7. External integrations you configure
Administrators choose the external endpoints the Site points at: the donate URL, social feeds and social links, external event-registration links, chapter outreach links, and the links page. If you configure any of these, you are responsible for verifying that a donate URL points to the Organization’s legitimate fundraising account, that feeds you display (including public subreddit feeds, which show third-party posts) are appropriate for the audience, and that linked destinations comply with these Terms. Misdirecting donation links is grounds for immediate termination.
8. Legal compliance
You are responsible for compliance with laws applicable to what you publish and organize through the Site, including electoral and lobbying disclosure rules (for example, “paid for by” disclosures where required), charitable solicitation registration where applicable, and data-protection laws applicable to the personal data you handle.
9. Suspension, termination, and offboarding
The Organization may suspend or remove content, revoke grants, or suspend or remove accounts for violation of these Terms, for inactivity, or to comply with law. Content you published stays with the Site under the license in Section 2 unless the Organization chooses to remove it. Submission records remain subject to Section 4: you must not retain copies of submission data after your access ends.
Questions about these Terms: hismajesty@nokings.lol. Report content: the contact form (subject “Legal / safety”) or hismajesty@nokings.lol. Privacy requests: hismajesty@nokings.lol.
