We are planning a 90-minute No Kings demonstration at Centre and Market streets in Pottsville at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, in conjunction with numerous others planned nationwide that weekend.
As decided by the national organizers, the purpose is to urge everyone to vote in this crucial midterm election – vote for democracy, fairness, equal opportunity and the public good. For that reason, we’re asking people to avoid signs that single out parties or candidates. For example, a simple sign like “No Kings. Vote!” gets the message across.
We want this to be a very orderly demonstration, but we may very well attract counter-protesters. Please don’t engage with them; that is what they want.
We hope to have music to create a joyous atmosphere as well as volunteers in yellow vests available if you have any questions.
